U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) approved the revision of the Safety Standard for Soft Infant and Toddler Carriers (16 CFR 1226).
The updated Safety Standard shall be effective on 22 February 2025. Each soft infant and toddler carrier must comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F2236-24, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Soft Infant and Toddler Carriers.
Compared to the previous version, the biggest change in ASTM F2236-24 is to update the content requirements of product labels and instructions, and add warnings to meet the requirements of ANSI Z535.4-2011 format
The following are the major changes from the old ASTM F2236-16a to the new ASTM F2236-24:
- Update the writing of each definition in Article 3, mainly by adding the part of speech of the defined words;
- Update the clause name of Clause 5.7 to Flammability of Soft Infant and Toddler Carriers;
- Update the formulation of Clause 5.7.2;
- Add Clause 5.7.3 stating that non-toy accessories sold with or attached to the products shall also comply with the requirements of Clause 5.7;
- Update the requirements of Article 8&9 regarding product labeling and instructions.
