According to the EU GPSR, from 13 December 2024, for products available on the market online or through other means of distance sales targeted at EU consumers, the postal address and electronic address of the EU manufacturer or EU importer (or of the responsible person in the EU for the company not established in the EU), as well as warning or safety information shall be provided.
For the products placed on the EU market, the postal address and electronic address shall also be provided on the product label, unless the product is subject to a specific requirement imposed by an EU harmonisation legislation.
Further, the EU GPSR restates that the products placed or made available on the EU market shall be safe. Before placing the products on the EU market, manufacturers shall carry out an internal risk analysis, on all relevant aspects of the products, in particular its characteristics, e.g. physical, mechanical, cybersecurity and chemical characteristics shall be taken into account in the risk assessment. The assessment shall consider the specific needs and risks associated with children, older persons and persons with disabilities.
Therefore, Intertek recommends companies of consumer products to the EU, ensure having established/assigned an EU company as the EU responsible person, examine the product labels and website if the required content is present, and conduct a complete safety assessment on the products.
Intertek can provide a series of EU GPSR-related services on consumer products to be placed on the EU market, e.g. labelling review, website review, safety assessment, testing, technical file, training etc.
