Final Rule to Update the Voluntary Standards of Formaldehyde Emissions Standards for Composite Wood Products (40 CFR 770)
On Feb.8 , 2018, The Environmental Protection Agency has issued a Final Rule to ｕｐｄａｔｅ the voluntary consensus standards mentioned in 40 CFR 770 Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products (it was published in Federal Register on 12 December 2016, detail can refer to Follow Up 1). This Final Rule shall be effective immediately. The highlights of this Final Rule are as followings:
1. The terms “Hardboard”, “Hardwood plywood”, “Mediumdensity fiberboard”, “Particleboard” and “Quality control limit” shall be revised in section 700.3 (Definitions) by updating the standards.
2. In the terms "EPA TSCA Title VI Product Accreditation Body or EPA TSCA Title VI Product AB" and "TPC laboratory", “1998(E)” shall be replaced by “2012(E)”.
3. The following standards mention in 40 CFR 770 shall be ｕｐｄａｔｅd due to ｕｐｄａｔｅd version of standards or withdrawal of the previous standards:
