As the concept of sustainable development rises in popularity around the world, leading companies are taking note of the environmental pollution caused by discarded plastic and rubber. More and more companies are actively taking "environmental protection" as a new direction to explore. Some companies are promoting the design of lightweight and miniaturized products. Other companies advocate the use of recyclable materials, recycled materials, biodegradable materials, or biobased materials, or materials with low product carbon footprint (PCF) to manufacture products.
A set of high-quality products has not only a unique design and robust performance, but its material has also the features of safety and environmental protection, to stand out among the numerous toy products on the market. Its components should comply with the requirements regarding physical, and mechanical properties and restricted substances content. Meanwhile, the product should not have a negative impact on the environment and, if possible, should produce certain environmental benefits. For example, the product contains biodegradable materials which can degrade in an industrial aerobic composting facility, or a high-solids anaerobic digestion environment, or the product contains recycled materials, thereby reducing the use of new materials, or the product has used biobased materials, e.g. use of organic waste and by-products as feedstock. Or the product has a low product carbon footprint (PCF), i.e., less consumption of carbon-containing resources (e.g. petroleum and coal) in the production process, and less carbon dioxide emissions.
A test report and a certificate on the environmental benefits (e.g. biodegradability, recycled material content, biobased carbon content, low product carbon footprint (PCF)) are strong proofs of the outstanding selling point of the product. It helps enterprises to open up sales for their products in domestic and international markets and demonstrate their efforts in sustainability, which enhances their brand image and market recognition.
Intertek Total Quality Assurance (TQA) Service
Helps companies to screen and determine whether the material is made of conventional plastic that is difficult to degrade or of biodegradable plastic
Intertek provides biodegradation testing services on various product standards and evaluation standards in many countries and regions (e.g. ISO 17088, ASTM D6400, ASTM D6868, EN 14995, EN 13432, AS 4736, AS 5810, GB/T 41040, GB/T 41040, ISO 15985, ASTM D5511, GB/T 33797, ISO 14855, ASTM D5338, GB/T 19277.1, EU REACH Annex XVII Entry 78 Biodegradability of microplastics, OECD 301F, OECD 301B, etc.) and in various environmental conditions
Intertek can provide certification services on Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), Spanish Law 7/2022 (Ley 7/2022) - recycled material certification (UNE-EN 15343:2008), UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) Regulation - recycled material content certification, U.S. New Jersey Recycled Content Law - recycled material content certification
Intertek can provide testing services with various test methods e.g. ISO 16620-2, ASTM D6866, EN 16640, etc.
Intertek can provide carbon footprint assessment reports on e.g. ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), PAS 2050 Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Carbon, ISO 14064-1 Organizational Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Inventory, as well as carbon footprint disclosure services, e.g. EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), China Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Carbon Footprint label and certificate, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) certification
Intertek’s Green Leaf Mark is a consumer product and systems verification used to validate that the environmental marketing claims have been independently verified by an international third-party testing, auditing and certification body
The Green Leaf Mark is a straightforward way to educate and communicate to consumers about the sustainable attributes of the products, environmental policies and the brand’s commitment to designing, sourcing and manufacturing products of sustainable development
Verification project and relevant regulations, standards and other statements for verification will be stated in the certificate
Can be used for company and brand promotion for a variety of channels
