On April 20, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has published a direct final rule to update the Safety Standard for Infant and Cradle Swings (16 CFR 1223). The regulation shall enter into force on July 25, 2026

According to the Standard, each Infant and Cradle Swings must comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F2088–25, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant and Cradle Swings.

The main revision of this standard this time is to change the referenced product standard from ASTM F2088-24 to ASTM F2088-25. The involved changes are as follows:

  1. Update the scope clause 1.3, stating that this specification does not cover products in the rest (non-rocking) position that are intended to provide sleeping accommodations for the occupant. These products are addressed in Consumer Safety Specification F2194.
  2. Add clause 7.17 Suffocation Hazard Visibility Test.
  3. Update the warning content and format in clause 8.6.
